As Strategic Healthcare Data Manager, you will guide how we harness healthcare data across clinical, operational, and business areas, reporting directly to the EvGen and Data Impact Head. You work in close partnership with Medical leadership and cross-functional teams, shaping integrated strategies that enable measurable results and meaningful change.

In this role, you translate complex data into actionable insights and compelling stories, supporting decisions that improve patient care and operational efficiency. You ensure that every approach meets our highest standards for data privacy and compliance, and you champion a culture of data-driven thinking. Your leadership helps AstraZeneca unlock the full value of healthcare data, empowering teams to deliver life-changing medicines and strengthen our impact in healthcare innovation.

Accountabilities

  • Shape, co-develop, and execute healthcare data strategies that support AstraZeneca’s goals and drive innovation, improved patient outcomes, and strong operational results, reporting directly to the EvGen and Data Impact Head.

  • Collaborate with Medical Managers, the Head of Medical, EvGen teams, and cross-functional business groups to launch and strengthen integrated data initiatives, delivering measurable value and business impact.

  • Use analytics tools and methods (such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau) to transform healthcare data into practical insights supporting clinical, scientific, and strategic decisions.

  • Create clear and engaging communications, including reports, presentations, and data stories that help senior leaders, colleagues and external stakeholders to understand key findings and opportunities.

  • Ensure data governance, privacy, and compliance by maintaining high standards and following regulatory and ethical guidelines in every solution.

  • Design and improve health data solutions that enable evidence-based decisions and deliver tangible business results.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, encouraging teamwork with EvGen teams and a culture that champions data-driven choices across AstraZeneca.

  • Track and report impact, partnering with the EvGen communications lead and leadership teams to share the results and value of data-driven projects.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • At least five years in healthcare data, analytics, or management roles in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare sectors.

  • Master’s degree or higher in Life Sciences, Health Informatics, Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau or similar analytics tools.

  • Ability to develop data strategies that create positive business and patient outcomes.

  • Strong skills in writing and presenting, with experience delivering insights to senior leaders and diverse groups.

  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including medical and scientific teams.

  • Knowledge of healthcare data governance and privacy standards, such as GDPR.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and highly regulated setting.

  • Skilled at translating data findings into practical recommendations.

  • Passion for trying new ideas and ways of working with healthcare data.
